Norton Juster and Rain Perry on The Bob Edwards Show

Filed under: Radio Today, Bob Edwards Archives — Charlie Summers @ 12:06 am

One of the things I love about The Bob Edwards Show is the frequent odd yet pleasing juxtapositions the shows could have. Take this one…first up is renown children’s author Norton Juster, followed by singer-songwriter-filmmaker-playwright Rain Perry. From Bob’s introduction:

If you’ve ever felt like a hopelessly straight line trying to appeal to an adventure-seeking bright red dot, then you’ve entered the world of writer Norton Juster. Fifty years ago, Juster collaborated with cartoonist Jules Feiffer to produce The Phantom Tollbooth. Now they’ve teamed up again for a new book titled The Odious Pare. Norton Juster is my guest today and so is Rain Perry, the product of drug-dealing hippie, Christian fundamentalist parents tells her story in song and a one-woman play. Perry is the composer of the theme song for the TV show Life Unexpected. The singer/songwriter’s newest album is titled Internal Combustion.

This is, I think, an excellent combination. Now-obligatory script and roadmap for the program also included below. Both interviews produced by Cristy Meiners. And a quick note - if you’re on facebook, be sure you comment on this post for a chance to win a signed item to celebrate the upcoming 15th anniversary of the very first Bob Edwards Show!
