The Bob Edwards Show in Margaritaville

Filed under: Radio Today, Bob Edwards Archives — Charlie Summers @ 12:21 pm

I haven’t posted a musical guest for a while, and as cold as it’s been around here lately, I can’t think of a better “warm-up” act than Jimmy Buffett, master of the laid-back relaxed summer night. From the program:

Jimmy Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi but grew up in Mobile — then Fairhope, Alabama — never far from the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Back then he played trombone in the school band, if you could imagine such a thing. Buffet stayed close to home for college too, attending universities in Alabama and Mississippi, studying a bit of journalism before receiving his degree in history. Now he’s a popular singer-songwriter with highly devoted fans and he’s a VERY successful businessman ~ developing and running his own line of corporate brands. Buffett has million dollar homes in VERY posh locations - and flies himself on his own private plane from Key West to St. Bart’s … and to concerts around the world. But he still loves returning to the Gulf Coast. We spoke with Jimmy Buffett the day before his performance at the 2011 Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans.

So forget the cold weather, and spend an hour in that state-of-mind called Margaritaville! Program script/roadmap also included below for those who enjoy such.
