The main feed; in a news aggrigator, it's the news items, in a podcast client, it's the media files.

  • iTunes RSS 2.0

This is the feed for iTunes to load the podcast. Why so difficult and non-standard? Beats's why I use Juice and not iTunes.

Bob Edwards Goes (Sorta) to the International Space Station

Filed under: Radio Today, Bob Edwards Archives — Charlie Summers @ 1:58 pm

As mentioned, another program dealing with space. Earlier this week I posted the show where Bob and two producers traveled to Florida to see the space shuttle Endeavor launch for a trip to the International Space Station. The following year on January 12th, 2009 Bob interviewed one of the crew members on that shuttle flight, Sandy Magnus, along with Commander Mike Fincke while they orbited the earth.

Being a fan of both the Edwards program and the space program, I couldn’t help myself…I recorded the interview video in real-time across the Net from the NASA feed and posted it to BobEdwards.Info. Below is that video…note that there is significant lag between question and answer, so be patient. Early on Commander Fincke, while Ms. Magnus answers a question, performs a slow graceful roll in the microgravity of orbit. It is a joy to behold…

I’ve also posted the program itself (click the “Play Now” link immediately after the description to switch to the audio player, or download to take with you on your next walk or jog), aired over a month later on February 20th, which also includes David Broder talking politics, NASA expert and NPR reporter Pat Duggins with an update on the agency, and film critic Ken Turan making predictions for the then-upcoming Academy Awards. The roadmap/script is down there, too, and this one is chock-full of prep work for the various interviews aired in the episode.
