Wall of Interview - Bob Edwards and Mick Brown

Filed under: Radio Today, Bob Edwards Archives — Charlie Summers @ 11:35 am

I need some music.

In 2007, Bob Edwards spent some time with Mick Brown about his biography Tearing Down the Wall of Sound: The Rise and Fall of Phil Spector. From the show introduction:

Phil Spector was a popular music genius, turning out hit song after hit song from the 50’s into the 70’s-from the Teddy Bears to the Beatles. His wall of sound as one the most distinctive features of early rock ‘n roll—for us boomers, it was the sound track of our formative years. But Spector was also a very troubled fellow who liked to play with guns—and now finds himself on trial for murder in Los Angeles. My guest today is Mick Brown…

Show script also included below, and the interview producer, Ed McNulty, included lots of musical clips to punctuate the conversation. And as always, let me know if there’s a guest you’d like to hear again!
