Here in McHenry County, there are lots of cow. The numbers a getting smaller because of of residential development. The new residents don't like smell of manure. The farmers spread the manure as fertilizer for crops that is grown for feed and for human consumption. A friend of mine, who retired from business, started a very small farm growing vegetables, Tomatoes, Peppers etc. All natural the farmeres gave him, free, manure to fertilzer and he bought Lady Bugs by the bucket that were a natural pesticide. He called his farm Lady Bug Farm. He was in his 70's so he had a farm hand. He sold his crops to some of the best restaurants in Chicago area. His prices were high lots of profit, and cheap to produce My friend died a few years ago.
