					<description>KFC isn't conveniently located near my house, but I always liked Roy Roger's chicken (which I believe is the old Hot Shoppe's Pappy Parker recipe) better. I've always liked the potato wedges, which we used to get with the chicken at Holly Farms (remember them, or were they too regional?).

Part of the reason they weren't my first choice was that the nearest KFC we have may have been staffed by incompetent cooks, because the chicken was WATERY! The breading was soggy, and if you waved the chicken enough, the breading would come unglued and flop off. I also don't like the way they treated Harlan Sanders after he publicly expressed his opinion about their "extra crispy" product (he called it "a fried doughball stuck on some chicken", an opinion I share). I've never had a reason to go back.

I also used to like the chicken at the now-defunct Red Barn restaurants. I liked all of these places better than KFC. The only one I rated KFC above was Churches Fried Chicken, which I found too bland. My boss, who grew up in poverty in St. Louis, actually liked Churches better, not because of the taste, but because of the cost, as you got more for your money than at KFC.

Nowadays, I find myself eating more Chinese and Thai food, because I get some nice vegetables with it. When I do eat chicken, I eat it at Roy Roger's or Popeye's (which has the best, most buttery biscuits I've ever tasted!). Some people find Roy Roger's chicken to be dry, but I'm happy with it. I much prefer dry over watery...
