Emmy nominee Joe Mantegna joins ‘Criminal Minds’

Filed under: Television, News — Charlie Summers @ 12:46 pm

From the AP via USA Today: Emmy nominee Joe Mantegna joins ‘Criminal Minds’

There goes one of my favorite shows. Mantegna is an uninspiring actor (best-known in this household for butchering the character of Spencer) and certainly no replacement for the excellent although troubled Mandy Patinkin.

The show is very well written and I agree that Joe Mantegna’s start was a little choppy and a 180 degree change from Mandy Patinkin’s smooth style but he is improving. The writers seem to have found some personality for him to inject into his character and that has helped. Taking the spotlight off him and placing the focus back on the criminal as in the excellent 2 part episode “Penelope” has helped too.
